about me.

A few basics:
My name is Nathan William Bartlett.
I live in the Kansas City area.
I am a Paraeducator for the Shawnee Mission School District.
I am a student.
I love my family, my friends and my God.
I have a passion for creativity.

Going on 9 years now, my summers have led me to Youthfront Camps, located in LaCygne (Camp South) and Edgerton, KS (Camp West). It is a place that I feel most myself. My roles have ranged from being a Camper, Teen Staffer, Groundsman, ATV supervisor and Cabin Leader to my current role as Teen Staff Supervisor at Camp West. Despite those changes, the purpose has remained the same. It is within those 2-3 months while I'm at camp that I've grown the most as a man and as a Christian. I credit this to God for allowing me to be introduced to such superb people in my time there. This is an excerpt of something that I wrote 5 years ago on the subject:
I can't honestly tell you that camp is more beautiful than a tropical island or that the weather there is always perfect. It's Kansas, after all. But I can say that I haven't before found a better collection of people than I have while at camp... Having that many people striving after the same (divine) thing is a rarity... So I choose camp over all the beautiful islands and magnificent cities. Over the mountains and oceans. I choose camp because it is more beautiful than any place that I can imagine where it counts.
This was in response to the prompt: "Where do you want to live?"

On Sundays, I attend Jacob's Well Church, found in Westport, MO and led by Tim Keel, Isaac Anderson and Mike Crawford, among many others. It has been an incredible community for me spiritually, intellectually and socially. I highly recommend checking it out for yourself.

There is more, but I'm tired of writing about myself. Meet me and draw your own conclusion.
